George Edward Sample, 78, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, surrounded by love. A lifelong Florida resident, George was a devoted father, loyal friend, and a man whose kindness and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Born on July 16, 1944, George was raised in his childhood home on 1st Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Florida. He attended St. Petersburg High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed his love for baseball, the outdoors, and community. He later continued his education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Finance, where he built the foundation for a life defined by hard work and dedication.

George found joy in life’s simple pleasures – early mornings on the greens at Largo Golf Course, quiet walks along Pass-a-Grille Beach, and sunsets at John’s Pass. These places weren’t just destinations to him; they were part of the rhythm of his life and memories he cherished deeply.

He built a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Mary, beginning in their first home in Seminole, Florida. Together, they raised two children – a son Kent Sample and a daughter Kylie Smith (Sample) – who were the center of George’s world. He was a proud and loving father, always offering guidance, support, and a steady hand through every stage of their lives.

He will be remembered for his warm smile, his unwavering loyalty, and the way he made people feel seen and valued. Whether as a neighbor, a friend, or a father, George left a mark that will not be forgotten.

George is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his two children, Kent and Kylie; his brother Ken and sister in law Amy; and many extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory forward.

Loved by family, cherished by friends, George truly left a mark on this world – and he will be deeply missed.
